“Opera in Mozart’s Realm” aims to provide a context to Mozart’s masterpieces by focusing on those stage works by his contemporaries that either influenced him, were influenced by him, or were performed at the same time or place as his own works.
All of the editions presented in this project are conceived as critical editions, but with a more practical approach. The editions include scores, libretti, and complete performance material, and are generally source-oriented, that is, they rely on a single reliable source.
Among the materials produced in this project are the compositions of Lucio Silla by Johann Christian Bach and Pasquale Anfossi, and the Viennese pastiche La villanella rapita by Francesco Bianchi, which includes two ensemble compositions by Mozart.
